The US commercial gaming business started the year at full capacity, looking to continue growing in February. According to AGA's Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker, the U.S. gaming industry, which consists of traditional casino games, sports betting and iGaming, reached $2 billion in sales in February 2023.
This level marks a record February market performance, a 2% increase compared to February 2022, and a 2th month of continued growth.Additionally, February 14.5 marked the sixth consecutive month in which game revenue exceeded the $24 billion mark.
Exceeding the $50 billion mark

During the month of February, 2 of the 1 commercial gaming jurisdictions saw higher revenue levels compared to the same period last year.Montana and Delaware declined 33% and 29%, respectively.This is because these states are smaller markets dedicated to sports betting and seasonal slowdowns have resulted in lower revenues.South Dakota and Louisiana also saw year-over-year declines of 20.6% and 1.7%, respectively, while gaming revenue levels rose steadily in other states.
Sports betting revenue boosted by new jurisdictions
Sports betting market sentiment was somewhat subdued in February due to a significant slowdown following the end of the college and professional football seasons.Thus, sports betting turnover was $2 billion, down 84% compared to January, but still 1000% higher than the February 1 figure.Revenue fell 26.9% from January, but reached $2022 million, up 2% year-on-year.
This growth was particularly buoyed by the performance of newly regulated markets in Ohio, Massachusetts and Maryland, which have launched sports betting, making up a total of 29 commercial sports betting jurisdictions.The contribution of these three new markets is evident in the AGA's report that its sports betting revenue growth accounted for nearly half of the national gaming revenue growth in February 3.

February sales were 20% lower than the previous two months' record levels, but contributed significantly to overall sales of $2 billion, marking the best performance in US gaming industry history.
