The Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) registrar has issued financial penalty notices to the three operators. This fine was issued for violating internet gaming standards related to game integrity. AGCO has taken action against three high-profile operators to protect gamblers and gamers in the state.
Three operators violated the standards
Bunchberry Limited, Mobile Incorporated Limited and LeoVegas Gaming PLC violated Standards 4.08 and 4.09 by offering games to Ontario spectators that have not been approved by AGCO and the Independent Testing Laboratory (ITL).
Mobile Incorporated Limited also violated Criterion 2 by offering products developed by two suppliers not registered under AGCO's base. These violations resulted in the company paying a fine of $1.22.The company will pay the largest fine among the three operators included in the AGCO action.
LeoVegas provided an uncertified game to an Ontario customer, which did not comply with AGCO Board Guidelines and violated Standards 4.08 and 4.09. AGCO has imposed a fine of $25,000 for its conduct.
Bunchberry Limited committed the same violations, violating Standards 4.08 and 4.09.It also violated board guidelines, and the Order of Monetary Penalty says the company will have to pay a $15,000 fine for these violations.
protection of citizens
AGCO has established this standard to protect Ontario's citizens and to minimize harm to gamblers. AGCO's primary mission is to establish clear and precise requirements to track and ban all fraudulent processes, including games that are not AGCO certified.
A penalized operator has the right to appeal to the License Appeal Tribunal (LAT), an independent body of the Tribunals Ontario.
Commenting on the decision, AGCO Chief Executive Officer and Registrar Tom Mungham said:
“AGCO holds all registrants to high standards of responsible gambling, player protection and game integrity, and monitors their activities for the benefit of the people of Ontario. As a key feature of our regulatory framework, operators will only accept games that are from registered gaming suppliers and have been proven by independent testing laboratories registered with AGCO to meet the highest standards of game integrity. Ontarians who choose to play on a registered site need assurance that the games offered meet these requirements."
