The Chilean Ministry of Finance has announced that it will step up efforts to legalize online gambling in the country and plans to introduce a bill to regulate gambling in the first quarter of this year.
The bill proposes to regulate online sports betting, internet casino games and other forms of online betting.
According to the ministry, regulating online gambling activities not only helps establish a highly competitive market, but also protects both the health and safety of players.
The ministry also added that regulations would allow Chile to generate additional tax revenues from legitimate online gambling businesses, allowing authorities to better monitor the activities of licensed businesses.
Meanwhile, the ministry also released details of a second bill designed to modernize the country's onshore casino market.
The ministry did not provide details of the bill, but said it would include updating the industry's technical requirements for the current market and promoting responsible gambling practices among operators.
If the bill is passed, all operators holding a land casino license in Chile will agree to pay additional taxes and the permit will be extended by one year.
According to the ministry, the goal is to help increase national tax revenues as it continues to recover from the pandemic of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
"Casinos are associated with the country's economic development, both in contributing to local and government financing through tax payments and in tourism development in the region," said the ministry.
"But both industry pandemics and new global trends need new standards to ensure further development of the sector and higher tax collection through competitive bidding."
Japan should also be legalized quickly and made into tax revenue.
Break down your current stupid interests, please.
