Empire Technological Group, which operates as Play Synergy, announced today that it will acquire Aruze Gaming's slot machine business in the United States.
In February, Aruze filed for Chapter 2 bankruptcy protection in the Nevada bankruptcy court.Last week, the company announced it would be closing its Las Vegas office, laying off 11 employees as part of the closure.
Financial terms of the PlaySynergy acquisition were not disclosed.Subject to court and regulatory approval, Play Synergy expects the acquisition to close within the next 30 days.Aruze is the maker of the Rock Paper Scissors Instant Win slot machine, among other electronic gaming machines.
The company's sole shareholder is Japanese businessman Kazuo Okada, and its U.S. customers include physical stores and internet casino operators.
PlaySynergy will undertake sales, service, support and operations related to Aruze's slot routes and operations.
Play Synergy May Save Aruze's Las Vegas Job
As previously mentioned, Aruze announced last week plans to cut 100 jobs at its Las Vegas headquarters, but some of those roles could be saved.
Aruze, PlaySynergy and all other parties in this process have worked extremely well together to provide new employment opportunities for the majority of Aruze team members. “This, along with the interest of others in the industry, has resulted in minimal disruption to those affected and their families.
PlaySynergy did not say how many of the 100 jobs will be saved. The buyer of Aruze US' slot business also underscored the seller's commitment to its customers and said it expected a smooth transition.
“PlaySynergy understands that this process may cause anxiety for Aruze’s current customer base and wants to reassure each of our customers that our team, including those who plan to join us from Aruze, will focus on exceptional customer service and are committed to a smooth transition,” the statement said.
